Little Black Box

Description:

  •  Engine Temperature
    a. Monitoring via the vehicle’s electrical temperature gauge and sensor
    b. Additionally we can supply an independent sensor, which is fixed to an M8 Brass Bolt; the bolt can be screwed into a suitable location on the Head to measure temperature directly.
  •  Water Level
Water level is monitored via a high temperature Float switch installed into the header tank or probe kit.
The EMS V features a 7 second delay on this circuit to prevent false alarms caused by water movement in the tank when traversing space through ground / cornering.
  • Oil Level
Monitors pressure via vehicle’s existing oil light sensor / switch.
Optionally, the oil pressure alarm can be made fail-safe by fitting a sensor that closes on rising pressure.
  • Voltage indicator
Dual colour LED – system will show the Battery / Charging voltage via the Red – Orange – Green LED
  • Alarm Sounds
The EMS V alarm sounds provide intuitive audible indication and there is a commercial and private version
    The alarm sounds as follows:
Commercial Version Private Version
1 beep every 1 second for 10 seconds 1 beep every 1 second for 5 seconds
1 beep every .5 second for 10 seconds 1 beep every .5 second for 5 seconds
1 beep every .25 seconds for 10 seconds 1 beep every .25 seconds for 5 seconds
—- Continuous beep —- —- Continuous beep —-
Engine shut down relay energised Beeper Silent Mode input accepted (see below)

The frequency changing sound gives the driver an audible indication as to when engine shut down will occur and when it has occurred (continuous beep).

  • Beeper Silent Mode
This is a new feature that applies only to EMS V Private version. Once the system has alerted the driver the beeper sound may become annoying. When the unit is in continuous beep mode pressing the push button at the rear of the unit will silence the beeper until the unit is switched off / on again. In the Beeper Silent Mode the alarm LED’s will continue to function normally.
  • Alternator Alarm
This is also a new feature on the EMS V. The system can monitor the alternator light and if it illuminates the system will alarm with the standard beep frequency however the Wat/Alt LED will flash to indicate an Alternator alarm ( Water level alarm is indicated by Wat/Alt LED on ). This alarm will not effect an engine shut down.
    8: Game Viewer Option
In cases where noise can cause problems the EMS V can be fitted with a in-built or remotely housed
Hi-Bright LED, properly located the Hi-Bright LED should alert the driver to any problems without the need for a beeper.
  • Speed Control
The EMS V can be configured with speed control that works by limiting supply of fuel to the vehicle once the speed limit is exceeded. A “tachograph” type pulse generator and fuel cut-off valve are required for this feature. Please contact us for further information.
  • Power on
The EMS V performs a self test when powered on – The Alarm LED’s will each flash once followed by the Alarm LED and a string of 4 fast beeps; Thereafter the EMS will enter Beeper Silent mode for 10 seconds to allow engine start without beeps from the Oil Pressure alarm.
